Lauren Nossett is a professor turned novelist. She received her Ph.D. in German literature from the University of California, Davis. Her first book, The Virginal Mother in German Culture: From Sophie von la Roche and Goethe to Metropolis, was published by Northwestern University Press.
Her fiction debut The Resemblance was described as "elegant and thoughtful" by The New York Times and "impossible to put down" by Paste Magazine. It won the ITW Thriller Award for Best First Novel and was selected by The Georgia Center for the Book as one of ten "Books All Georgians Should Read" for 2023. Her second novel, The Professor, was released in November 2023. At Davis, Lauren will read from The Professor and discuss her approach to writing fiction.
