Professor Elisabeth Krimmer Among Top 15 Academics at UC Davis

The Academic Senate and Federation have awarded 15 faculty members top academic honors for 2024. These awards are given to faculty who are outstanding in their expertise, teaching, mentorship, and public service. Among the recipients of the Distinguished Teaching Award for Graduate and Professional Teaching is German professor Elisabeth Krimmer.

Professor Krimmer is recognized for helping graduate students innovate in the field of German literature. Her mentorship has helped her graduate students bridge the work of teaching and research.

Graphic Storyteller Maureen Burdock to Discuss ‘Sleepless Planet’

Graphic storyteller and UC Davis alumna Maureen Burdock returns to campus to discuss her latest project, “Sleepless Planet: A Graphic Guide to Coping with Insomnia.” Presented by the UC Davis Department of German and Russian, the talk will be at the School of Education Building, Room 174, on Feb. 22 at 4 p.m. The event is free and open to the public. No registration is required.

“I hope to motivate people to think more deeply about sleep for themselves as well as the planet,” Burdock said.

U.S. News Rankings Highlight Social Mobility Campus Provides

The University of California, Davis, rose to tie for sixth place among the nation’s top public universities in rankings published today (Sept. 17) by U.S. News & World Report.

The 2024 Best Colleges rankings moved UC Davis up four places from last year among public universities and up 10 places to tie for No. 28 among all national universities.
