  • GER 021 Intermediate German | Kirsten Harjes
  • Review of grammatical principles by means of written exercises; expanding of vocabulary through readings of modern texts; addresses social relations and cultural practices in Germany; discusses history of Germany.

    Taught in English

  • Historical tradition of Jewish thought in the German cultural context; unique contributions of Jewish writers to culture of the German-speaking world; what it means to be "other" in the mainstream culture. Taught in English - no German language experience required.

  • Knowledge of German not required. German filmmakers of the 1960s-1980s such as Fassbinder, Herzog, Syberberg, Brückner, Schlöndorf, Kluge, Wenders. Taught in English - no German language experience required.

Courses Outside of the Department
