Our DepartmentOur department is one of the top German programs in the nation. Graduate Studies in the UC Davis German program are oriented toward the M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in German. Students entering with a B.A. degree take courses in compliance with the UCD Graduate requirement of 12 units per quarter. They enroll in a core program of 36 units for the first two years to complete the minimum program requirement for the M.A. degree. The flexible M.A. and Ph.D. programs at UC Davis offer in-depth specialization in literary genres, theoretical problems, or historical periods, as well as a track designed for those interested primarily in linguistics. The programs may be supplemented with offerings from other departments and programs, such as Critical Theory, Feminist Theory and Research, Second Language Acquisition, or Classics and the Classical Tradition. Contact Kay Green for more information. Time to Degree and Placement RecordApproximate time to degree is 2 years for M.A. students and 5 for Ph.D. students. The Department's placement record is excellent. Our recent graduates have accepted tenure track appointments at universities such as Brandeis, Middlebury College, and the University of Pennsylvania. | |||||||||||||||
